PhD title: Sleep strategies of Antarctic seals
Supervisors: Simon Benhamou (CEFE), Paul-Antoine Libourel (CEFE)
Species of interest: Southern elephant seals and Weddell seals
Research theme: Marine mammals spend most of their lives in the ocean, where sleeping is challenging due to the need to surface for breathing, low water temperatures, and predation risk. How, then, do marine mammals adapt their sleep to such a unique environment? My research focuses on the diverse sleep strategies of marine mammals across different stages of their annual cycle.
