Hétérogénéité environnementale et évolution des différences de traits de personnalité chez la mésange bleue (Cyaniste caeruleus).

Je suis une doctorante encadrée par Anne Charmantier et Denis Réale (Université du Québec à Montréal). Mon projet de doctorat porte sur les causes écologiques et évolutives de la diversité des traits de personnalité au sein d’une espèce animale. J’étudie des populations sauvages de mésanges bleues (Cyanistes caeruleus) en Corse (France) qui occupent des habitats avec des conditions écologiques très différentes. Je souhaite déterminer si l’on retrouve différents traits de personnalité chez les oiseaux qui vivent dans différents types d’habitats, si ces différences ont une base génétique et si elles sont issues de la sélection naturelle. Finalement, j’aimerais déterminer s’il existe un lien entre la variabilité interindividuelle des traits de personnalité à l’intérieur même des populations et l’hétérogénéité des conditions écologiques à fine échelle spatiale.

Environmental heterogeneity and the evolution of personality traits in blue tits (Cyaniste caeruleus)

I’m a Ph.D student supervised by Anne Charmantier and Denis Réale (Université du Québec à Montréal). My project addresses the evolutionary and ecological causes of personality in wild animal populations. I am studying blue tit populations living in contrasting environmental conditions in Corsica (France). My goal is to determine is these populations are showing phenotypic differences in personality traits, if these differences reflect genetic differences and if they are the product of natural selection. Finally, I hope to determine if phenotypic variability in a given population is related to fine scale environmental heterogeneity.

I am broadly interested in the evolution of breeding systems, sex determination/differentiation and reproduction. I am currently using Next Generation Sequencing technologies and bioinformatic tools to study the attributes of a neo sex determining genomic region in Daphnia magna. I am looking at differentiation, recombination patterns and gene content.

I am also working on differential gene expression in sexual phenotypes.

My PhD is supervised by Thomas Lenormand and Yannis Michalakis, and will explore parasite coevolution using brine shrimp (Artemia) as a model system.
