I work at the interface between population dynamics and conservation biology.  My research encompasses the effects of anthropic factors on population dynamics and their implications for the conservation of biodiversity.  I have mainly worked in the Mediterranean region, focusing on environmental drivers such as climatic change, environmental variability and species introductions to explain ecological and evolutionary dynamics of plant populations.  Recently, I have developed a particular interest in historical ecology by studying ancient human impacts on whale populations.

My research is in the field of evolutionary ecology, often with a conservation point of view. I study variation among populations (mostly amphibians) along gradients (altitude, pollutants), to identify eg local adaptations in life history traits. More recently, I developped research in epidemiology to understand the dynamics of diseases affecting amphibian populations. Finally, I continue some eco-ethological studies mainly with amphibian dispersal by direct (eg radiotracking) and indirect (eg genetic markers) methods.

I study plant and animal community response to human induced change (introduced  species, land use) in temperate and méditerranean systems.

I am an evolutionary biologist. I study the evolution of mating systems (sexual selection, hermaphroditism, self-fertilization) as well as community eco-evolutionary dynamics (bio-invasions, species coexistence) through experimental, molecular, field, and theoretical approaches. I teach Quantitative Genetics.
