THE LIBRARY COLLECTION: PUBLICATIONS

- The CEFE library has more than 30,000 references (books, book chapters, theses, dissertations, scientific articles) in the following fields: ecology, biology, biodiversity, botany, zoology, mathematics and statistics, forestry, soil science, landscape, sustainable development, land use planning, and human sciences.

The books are classified by theme according to an internal classification system (shelves 1 to 30) and then arranged by the name of the first author within a theme.

A large part of the document collection (works since 1786 and older CEPE/CEFE publications) is referenced in a database that can be searched via a library catalogue (OPAC) accessible to all.

The availability of documents is indicated at the item level (the last column indicates ‘Available’ or ‘Checked out until DD/MM/YYYY’ or ‘Excluded from loan’).

- List of latest acquisitions: these are documents (books, theses, reports) purchased either with library funds, team/platform funds, or from donations. The references appear in the CEFE's online catalogue. The documents can be borrowed by all CEFE members or consulted on site during opening hours by external visitors.

LIBRARY COLLECTION: PERIODICALS

The CEFE library subscribes to 10 periodicals for the current year (electronic or paper versions).

The CEFE library has 291 periodical titles for which subscriptions have been cancelled (paper version), including several titles specialising in meteorology (local and national), located in the Di Castri and Le Houérou periodicals room.

Consult the complete list of 301 CEFE periodicals (current and cancelled).

THE DOCUMENTATION CENTRE CONTAINS:

1 - The book room, comprising:

Printed works on various themes (shelves 3 to 26)
A desktop computer for consulting the library's online catalogue

2 - The Di Castri periodicals room, comprising:

Scientific periodicals (listed in alphabetical order: Am J Bot (1991, v78(6)) - Wildlife Soc Bull)

3 - The Le Houérou periodicals room, comprising:

Scientific periodicals (in alphabetical order: Acta Bot Gallica - Am J Bot (1991, v78(5)) + Frontiers Ecol Environn)
Meteorological journals: local meteorological data (Hérault, Gard, Aude) and national meteorological data (France)
Theses and dissertations (CEFE, EPHE, others)
Printed works on various themes (shelves 1, 2, 5, 6, 7)
Works by CEFE researchers (shelf 23)
An atlas section

CONDITIONS OF ACCESS AND LOAN

The library is open to the general public, primarily to UMR staff and interested individuals wishing to consult research-level ecology resources. Documents may be borrowed by all UMR members or consulted on site during opening hours by external visitors.

Books: borrowing is only permitted for permanent staff and temporary staff working at the laboratory. Fill in a loan form for each book borrowed and leave the forms in the librarian's office. Remember to return all loans before you leave CEFE.

Periodicals: journals may not be taken out of the library; make a copy or scan them on site.

Photocopies/scans: a photocopier/printer is available on site (paper printing or PDF scanning) for internal staff. An access code is required before use. Non-permanent staff working at CEFE should ask the scientific managers for the code. A few paper copies may be provided free of charge to external visitors.
