Research interests

As a researcher in ecology, my research focuses on the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.

During my PhD, I worked on the effects of landscape context and farming practices on arthropod and vertebrate natural enemy communities and their consequences on biological pest control. The landscape level represents a relatively relevant focus for investigation, making it possible to highligh spatio-temporal and functional complementarities for the biological pest control. Understanding the relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning at landscape level also enables us to produce recommendations to enhance biodiversity conservation and to maintain ecosystem services in a context of climate change.

My research in BIOFLUX

My current research is being carried out as part of a BiodivOC consortium project, the BELOW project.

The BELOW project aims to assess the effects of water availability in different contrasting ecosystems on the relationship between soil biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. My research questions hinge on three axes:

  • Diversity-diversity relationships: How are the relationships between the diversity of several groups of soil organisms affected by water availability in contrasting ecosystems?
  • Diversity-function relationships: How are ecosystem processes regulated by multiple levels of soil biodiversity in contrasting ecosystems in the Occitanie region? How are these relationships influenced by the soil water regime?
  • Integrating biotic indicators: How can a better understanding of these different relationships be used to improve biodiversity and ecosystem management? What biotic indicators should be integrated into biogeochemical and predictive models?
