Research interest

I am a behavioural ecologist interested in understanding what drives individuals choices in reproduction. In my PhD thesis, I study phenological timing and investment in reproduction in birds. More particularly, I study which environmental and social cues they use to decide when to reproduce and how much invest in it (number of eggs, egg size). The environmental cue I am interested in is the volatile organic compounds emitted by trees, so I study if birds can use their olfactory capacities to modulate their reproduction. I also study the influence of mate preference on the reproductive investment of females.
I am working with blue and great tits and I conduct experiments both in the field and in aviaries.
