Evolutionary Genetics and Ecology

Our group works in evolutionary and ecological genetics are focusing on natural and sexual selection. Our central topics are the evolution of life history traits, the evolution of genetic systems, phylogeography, speciation and hybridization, phenotypic and genetic variation and mutation, and the interface between population and community genetics.

These topics have various implications for the conservation of biodiversity, adaptation to global change and biological invasion.
We work on a diversity of model systems (birds, reptiles, amphibians, molluscs, arthropods, bacteria) and have developed strong expertise in long-term field studies, quantitative genetics, population genetics (molecular and theoretical), controlled laboratory experiments, experimental evolution and statistics in evolutionary biology.
