Dynamics of Landscapes and Biodiversity

Panorama Equipe DPB

Our team aims to understand the processes that explain the spatial and temporal dynamics of biodiversity, at scales ranging from local to global, and its implications to conservation.

Our research is structured along three main axes:

  • The study of landscape dynamics within a context of global change, particularly changes in community composition and in land use.
  • The study of the processes underpinning community and landscape dynamics, particularly the role of predation and herbivory.
  • The study of spatial biodiversity patterns at large scale (macroecology), of the mechanism that underpin them, and of their implications for land use planning and for conservation.

Our work focuses on temperate, Mediterranean and tropical systems, in Europe, Africa, and North America. Our study models include plants, amphibians, birds and mammals.

Key-words: landscape ecology, biodiversity, fear ecology, macroecology, bottom-up/to-down control mechanisms, conservation.
